Music of the Movies and Television

(Press every movie and television name and you will be lead right to the chosen song on Youtube)

Every great movie has great music in it, and some movies got music composed specially for them, these songs aren't necessarily meant to be theme songs of the movies, but there to create memorable, dramatic, scary, funny and exciting moments.

Here is just a few classics to remember

Beethoven's 5th Symphony ( Rousing)
Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture  (Powefull)
Mozart - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (Formal)
Bach: Toccata and Fugue ( Scary)
Rossini: William Tell Overture (Horses)
And one of the most remerable, also used in Lord of The Rings Carmina Burana - O Fortuna.

We all remember the theme song of Star Wars, and without a doubt remember it when we hear it, and then automatically think of the movies. The same goes for movies as Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and the list goes on-and-on.

We have all heard a few of the same tunes on different movies and shows, because they are now associated with a special mode or moment, it's easy for film directors to choose there already memorable tunes to create a moment
Some movies also used popular songs and artist for their movies, we all remember the classics as Dangerous Minds’ "Gangsta's Paradise" (By Coolio, 1995), The Body Guard's "I Will Always Love You" (by Whitney Houston, 1992), Titanic's "My Heart Will Go Own" (by Celine Dion, 1997) and Dirty Dancing's "The Time Of My Life" (by Jennifer Warnes & Bill Medley, 1987)

And my personal favorite:

We also see the same thing in television, theme songs of series has become just as popular as the serie itself, hit series like Friends "I'll Be There For You" (by The Rembrandts), Beverly Hills 90210CharmedThe Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, and Scrubs, again just to name a few.

These songs, both the classics, and the popular's have all been immortalized by being a part of those movies and TV shows, it has become a part of them, just like they now are a part of the song.

If you are interested in finding more movie and television movies, feel free to brows The 77 Most Unforgettable Movie Songs and Top 100 Classic Popular Movies Songs, i was reunited with a lot of great music!

See you next Sunday,

The Cover Of ....

Cover Song: Songs written (or/and performed) by other people, used by a secound person.

Sites such as Youtube has come up, where you can upload stuff you youself have recorded, or anyone else's music, a goofy video or your own music.
Cover songs has become a very normal thing to find on the net and uploading sites, it has become a new way to be "discovered."
We actually know many artists who initially were discovered at these sites, like Youtube, Soundcloud and what not, where they performed other people's songs, artists like Justin Bieber and Esme Denters.
In the "game days", before the network had such an influence on us, was the venue with "Open Mic" where people could come and play cover songs or songs they themselves had written, hoping one day to be discovered.
Today we need only a webcam and a relatively good microphone, we don't even have to leave our own home.

Unfortunately, it also just so much easier for people to criticize others on the net, just because you sit behind a screen,  some people think it's acceptable to throw their opinions in other people's faces, which in principle is okay, I just never have been able to understand why there is a need to run other people down because of their talent (/ or lack thereof).
There is so many great voices on Youtube, as a Music Enthusiast, i'm one of those who almost daily sits and listen to cover songs / live songs on Youtube and try wherever possible to come with contructive criticism, positive response and a little "high-five" if nessesary.

Oh well that's all i got this time, be nice to each other online!!
There is no need to be mean, to people you don't even know ( or do know).

aaaaaaaaaaaaand .....
Here a little list of people known from Youtube

Music videos, little work of art.

In the old days the only "music videoes" we used to see, was the performance of the actual performer, for examble, The Beatles - She Loves You" (Youtube link).

First a little "acient" history, It all started in the late 1970's, with  The Sight On Sound, the first music channel that showed videos, it was the front runner for the now well-known music channel MTV ( Music Television), where they started to show videos of the artist performing ("Music videos").

As we know, it all started with the performances of the artist, later on it became more theatrical, and today it's like watching a short-film.
Outfits (costumes), make-up, choreography, stories( sometimes hidden), and messages/signs, and often it also expresses how the musicians style is, as we know it's all about image.

It has become a new way for the artist to express themselves, and a new performing art. Today we don't just give awards for best Movie or Singer, we have Best Directed Musicvideo, Best Music Video, and Best Choreography and so on...

And in some cases it can be a true masterpiece, then other times it all just seems plain wierd, but it's in the eye of the beholder.

Thank God for expressionisme :-)

The Music Youth and The Provocation

When you look at all the new and old artists, they've started to have things in common.
Who can push the most boundaries, be the most "over the top", who can give the most reactions.
It of course already started  back in Madonna's days, but only started really becoming a big thing with Lady Gaga a few years ago. If we look at the artists nowadays compared to just 3-4 years ago, most have changed both the style and music, again, we see that today's music is dominated by electronic undertones, but also to their style in general has become more "provocative "and" over-the-top ".

In principle, I think it's alright, music evolves along with people and technology, but is it okay when we see the younger generation of musicians do the same? Look at artist as Miley Cyrus as there has been much talk about a sweet nice girl who was known for being the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana".
A series that made her for the series on The Disney Channel, but also as an icon, Hannah Montana, the musician.

Now that Miley has grown up, Hannah Montane is over, and she wants to become a real grown-up music/actor/artist, we see her in various, small outfits performing on stage, dancing "sexy" in music videos, in general trying to get a reaction out of people?

Can it really be true that even our youngest generation of music agents feel they must go to "extreme" means to get the attention they seek, or is it at all just an attempt, ala early Britney Spears, to make a statement that's called "Now I'm an adult"( or I'm not a Girl)? I don't know, but i think now it's very interesting to think about whether our society has made them feel like they must do so, or themselves.
Just something to think about :-)

The "New" Music?

What's happening to/in music right now?
- The music has evolved exponentially in the past 20 years from the late 80's where the element of "electronic" first began, up till now where its's almost indispensable.
Before the element of "electronic" began, we focused on each instrument in every song, how to make it all come together in the right way, and how to make it new and special, it's almost like there was more challenge for the individual musician, because you didn't have computers, to compose, tune (auto) and delete if something went wrong.

A musicians life was the music, where now, is it more about the fame?
Don't misunderstand me, I love the music we have today, but it just seem like it has become more about the "fame" of being a musician than the music in it self.

And also, have we run out of "New Sounds"? If we listen to some of the most popular musicians, like Flo Rida, most of his sounds are remakes of old 80's pop songs like Dead Or Alive's - "You spin me right round", And the 90's song, Eiffel 65's -"I'm Blue" - Where did originality go? And now also a new Danish "electronic" duo called Electric Lady Lab, has made a remake of Eurythmics - "Sweet Dreams" called "You and me".
But apparently it works, because people listen to it, maybe because it's a new, fresh, and more electronic twist to an already known melody, maybe because they're using our nostalgic feelings for the melodies? To reach a longer audience?
And to get back to something, maybe today it isn't as "easy" to become known for your music, because everybody wants to be famous, not for the music, but for the fame. I just think that's sad, because so many great musicians who really live for the music, never gets a chance, because of the competition "to become famous". But apparently it works, now music is now only enjoyable it's a great business and marked, but is it for the better?

- I'll end this now, leave you with your thoughts.

A little starter is always good.

This blog will be about all kinds of music.
I will try to go through all genres, all perspectives, and all (or as much and i can find!) opinions on and about Music.
Both from my own angle, but also from others. I will try to talk to people from around the world, and hear their views on what they think good music is and why.

I will also evaluate different songs, where I will also get feedback from others about their opinion, and then raid it on a scale from 1 to 6, 6 being the highest,

In my opinion, music is a way to evolve, something that is in some way, strangely enough, defining to who you are as a person. Not that one should judge a person from what kind of music they listen to, but a certain musical genre, much of the time allocated to a particular group of people.

I therefore think it could be interesting to find out whether the allegations is true or false and why it really is such if it is true. Here was just a bit of what I dream about doing to this little blog.

I think it'll be interesting, and hopefully worth reading (:
