Cover Song: Songs written (or/and performed) by other people, used by a secound person.
Sites such as Youtube has come up, where you can upload stuff you youself have recorded, or anyone else's music, a goofy video or your own music.
Cover songs has become a very normal thing to find on the net and uploading sites, it has become a new way to be "discovered."
We actually know many artists who initially were discovered at these sites, like Youtube, Soundcloud and what not, where they performed other people's songs, artists like Justin Bieber and Esme Denters.
In the "game days", before the network had such an influence on us, was the venue with "Open Mic" where people could come and play cover songs or songs they themselves had written, hoping one day to be discovered.
Today we need only a webcam and a relatively good microphone, we don't even have to leave our own home.
Unfortunately, it also just so much easier for people to criticize others on the net, just because you sit behind a screen, some people think it's acceptable to throw their opinions in other people's faces, which in principle is okay, I just never have been able to understand why there is a need to run other people down because of their talent (/ or lack thereof).
There is so many great voices on Youtube, as a Music Enthusiast, i'm one of those who almost daily sits and listen to cover songs / live songs on Youtube and try wherever possible to come with contructive criticism, positive response and a little "high-five" if nessesary.
Oh well that's all i got this time, be nice to each other online!!
There is no need to be mean, to people you don't even know ( or do know).
